What is your State of Mind? Ideas to Spark your Next Weekender

Dress like Coco. Live like Jackie. Act like Audrey. Laugh like Lucy. All good advice.

Good advice when you’re arriving at your destination for the weekend. We think it’s essential to step back, relax and reset your state of mind in this busy world. Does anyone else struggle with their state of mind, daily stress and expectations of life both personally and professionally? We, of course, do not want to speak for everyone but we think it is safe to say, everyone does in some form or time to time. It is nice to have friends, family and partners in life to help remind us of what is important. Having those that say… ‘we should getaway!’, ‘let’s go!’ or ‘come visit!’.

Time is the hardest part. Finding time to really live life with those we love… relax. We regularly try to find time to get away and discover. Travel is part of who we are and what we love to do in our career.

This particular weekender was two fold for us – relax and dollop of work. We had the opportunity to help a friend open a business and enjoy a fun weekend away exploring… none other than… Palm Springs. She said, ‘come visit!’… so we did! Working in hospitality and in the wine industry we have had the pleasure of meeting amazing and talented people plus experiencing new places, delicious food and wine. Our colleague and now friend needed industry advice. As part of our consulting offerings, now, we provide Secret Shops for businesses and wineries. It is a great way to see how the consumer is enjoying a product, place and experience. We love Secret Shops so much, it’s not work, it allows us to look at the big picture, help businesses, brands and improve the industry.

We thought we would share the highlights and must-dos when you need a weekend away! Choose – #PalmSprings

HOTEL

Azure Sky Hotel – A brand new boutique hotel, tucked behind the downtown center. The hotel is quaint and serene, beautiful desert landscaping – a mid-century gem. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit!

Villa Royale – IF Azure happens to be booked or prefer taking it up a notch, around the corner is another hip, edgy, free-spirited hideaway called Villa Royale. The Villa is apart of a hotel group called Provenance Hotels. They have upscale boutique style hotels with wit, charm and grace all over the United States. We look forward to exploring them all.

RESTAURANTS

Our focus was to find the best outdoor dining. Palm Springs and Palm Desert is a haven for the outdoor dining experience. Location, location, location. We have eaten at quite a few different spots – but these two are our favorite.

El Patio – Delicious Mexican food! Traditional Mexican-fare is the focus with a few classics (AMAZing Margaritas) and novelty deliciousness (..like the Churro-cart! Even if you’re stuffed, get it. Homemade churros arrive at your table plus toppings and dips…). Hello! Most of the seating is outdoors and under huge shade trees.

Farm – The Farm is the perfect breakfast, brunch or lunch spot. We enjoyed brunch (we think that is where they shine) but they are open for dinner as well. The Restaurant is nestled in a courtyard full of plants, trees, vines, flowers and succulent walls. They have made intimate sections of this garden with plants and stonewalls, umbrellas and fans are dotted… for the true outdoor experience. The food is delicious and on brand – farm to table – literally.

TO DO

The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens (Palm Desert)- Its a must. We think it is better than the Safari Park in Escondido. The Zoo & Gardens feature many desert animals in their natural element, a train showcase, walkabout gardens and cool treats. There are a few animal interactions such as the ‘Feed the Giraffe’, ‘Walk with the Wallabys’, Live Shows and other Private Tours. The Zoo & Gardens do close early due to the heat in the summer months – so check times before you head over to have fun.
